A Masterpiece!! ❤ ❤ 🎻✨💖🎉🎉

I adore this cover from the color to the details of the background!! ❤ ❤

Its great that it matches This Savage Song perfectly from the somber/mysterious tone the cover gives to the instrument in the background, additionally its interesting to see the background also feature another part of the city of Verity!

Our Dark Duet is set to be released June 13, 2017!

This Savage Song Playlist

This Savage Song PlaylistIts been a while since I’ve done a Reading Playlist!

Today I’m happy to be sharing one based on Victoria Schwab’s This Savage Song

Based on the cover/summary I listened to a lot of OST’s from my favorite video game Kingdom Hearts, but mostly from its prequel Birth By Sleep, one of its spin-off titles + a track from Final Fantasy!

Many of the songs listed have some sort of Violin/Classical element which I felt went perfectly with the tone/overall plot of the book!

Enjoy!  ❤

+ Let me know your thoughts on this playlist in the comments!  🙂

+ Announced July 13, Victoria’s book got #1 on the NYT Bestsellers list!  😀 ❤

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab ARC Review

This Savage Song July 5This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab (Monsters Of Verity #1)

Publisher: Greenwillow Books

Release Date: July 5, 2016

Pages: 464

Summary: There’s no such thing as safe in a city at war, a city overrun with monsters. In this dark urban fantasy from author Victoria Schwab, a young woman and a young man must choose whether to become heroes or villains—and friends or enemies—with the future of their home at stake. The first of two books.

Kate Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city—a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent—but he’s one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate, who’s just been kicked out of her sixth boarding school and returned home, August jumps at it. But Kate discovers August’s secret, and after a failed assassination attempt the pair must flee for their lives.

My Rating: Full StarFull StarFull StarFull StarFull Star

My Thoughts: Everything Victoria writes is perfection!! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

She does an incredible job with creating tone/atmosphere!
From the summary alone this novel gives a dark/mystery-thriller vibe and she does it remarkably.

She’s got character development down to a T! With each and every character, from minor characters to villains, etc. they are all fully developed and I felt I understood each and every one of them by the end of this novel!

Kate struggles in this book to not only get approval from her father but also find her own path!
August struggles to understand what it means to be human, while also trying to protect his family!

*It was so interesting to see how music was seamlessly weaved into this story*!
I loved how August’s Sonai powers revolved around music, more sepcifically the violin and how his connection to it was represented in his narrative and him as character!
+ There is NO ROMANCE!! Very refreshing to see in a YA novel! W/ that said I loved the friendship that developed between August/Kate & while there were very very minor “romantic” moments you really see how much they care for each other & how their meeting really changed their life in Verity!

My only minor issue, was world building! In the first few of pages you are put into this world without much background, but as the story progresses the world becomes much more easy to follow and while the descriptions gave me a Dystopian Vibe (while it is classified as Urban Fantasy), As the story continues Victoria truly gets you immersed into the world/setting of Verity with Kate & August!

While I am usually hesitant about 3rd person narrative (I feel at times it makes hard to connect w/ the characters) Victoria executes it perfectly!

The dual narrative of August & Kate really gives you an overall scope of Verity and whats at stake b/c of a truce that is on the verge of collapse + how the monsters really are the root to this complex city!
+ THE ENDING!! I am really interested to see how it wraps up in book 2!!

Overall this was a dark and fast-paced story w/ twists, complex characters & a rich and lyrical writing that will keep you reading till you’ve reached the last page & leave you wanting the next book!
