Cover Reveal: Melody Of Astronomical Dusk by Miri Castor

24hr.YABookBlog is delighted to share the cover for the third novel in Miri Castor’s Opal Charm Series. This self-published Young Adult Fantasy series follows a Black teen named Opal from New York who learns of an alternate world and her own magical abilities. As this discovery soon propels her to try and save both worlds, she faces many hardships along the way. However, at its core, the series is about family, friendship and strengthening those bonds!

When Miri reached out to me about revealing this cover, I was overjoyed in taking part! It’s no surprise that I’m always looking to discover new YA novels and especially indie books. After discovering Castor’s series just last year, I’ve been eager to start it and it’s exciting getting to share the forthcoming novel with all of you!

Opal Charm is in desperate need of a vacation. A trip to her grandmother’s place in the sunny town of Marisol offers tranquility and distance from recent chaotic events in Dewdrop. But Marisol brings a whole new set of mysteries about Opal’s family, including the original Twilight wielder Philomenos.

Meanwhile, Samael Serkhan’s influence grows quickly across the alternate world of Athre. Lies, secrets, and heartache spread with Samael’s power, threatening to sever Opal’s ties with JAEL and family once and for all. With Twilight and family bonds, Opal must stop those trapped under Samael’s control from a self-destructing madness that can engulf both her worlds.

The Infinite Noise by Lauren Shippen Cover Reveal + Thoughts {The Bright Sessions}

Hey, 24hr.YABookBlog here (~˘▾˘)~ 💞✨📚 I’m back on the blog today to discuss a cover reveal I’ve been highly anticipating!

The Bright SessionsBased on The Bright Sessions science-fiction audio drama podcast, it was announced early last year that the creator Lauren Shippen would be adapting it into a YA trilogy!

The podcast, told through therapy sessions, among various audio recordings, focuses on therapist Dr. Bright who provides therapy for the “strange and unusual” or those with supernatural abilities. The show delves deeper into Dr.Bright’s past and more about her patients!

The podcast explores and discusses mental health in such an in-depth way and presents a brilliant and incredibly developed cast of characters–So, I HIGHLY recommend checking out this podcast if you haven’t already!

The first Bright Sessions novel, titled The Infinite Noise had its official cover reveal today via Lauren Shippen’s Twitter and today I’ll be sharing my thoughts on this cover & a little bit more on why I’m really looking forward to this book!

Here is the cover
Cover Artist: Victo Ngai

Here’s a full summary of The Infinite Noise:

Caleb Michaels is your average sixteen-year-old. He goes to school, plays football, teases his little sister. But when Caleb starts experiencing mood swings that are out of the ordinary for even a teenager, his life moves beyond “typical.”

Caleb is an Atypical, an individual with enhanced abilities. Which sounds pretty cool except Caleb’s ability is extreme empathy—he feels the emotions of everyone around him. Being an empath in high school would be hard enough, but Caleb’s life becomes even more complicated when he keeps getting pulled into the emotional orbit of one of his classmates, Adam. Adam’s feelings are big and all-consuming, but they fit together with Caleb’s feelings in a way that he can’t quite understand.

Caleb’s therapist, Dr. Bright, encourages Caleb to explore this connection by befriending Adam. As he and Adam grow closer, Caleb learns more about his ability, himself, his therapist—who seems to know a lot more than she lets on—and just how dangerous being an Atypical can be.

This is a fantastic cover & I can’t believe this book will actually be releasing this year!! The colors, the art-style, it captures and really illustrates Caleb’s ability (as an empath) and with that, Caleb as a character!

I’m beyond excited to read this book, not only as a big fan of the podcast looking to get more background into some of my favorite characters from the show, but also seeing how many more people will discover this amazing podcast through Shippen’s novel!

I’ve been a fan of this podcast for years and its amazing to see Shippen expand on the wonderful characters she’s created with this upcoming trilogy!

If you haven’t yet listened to The Bright Sessions, what are you waiting for? Go listen to it if you love stories with a complex plot & characters, superpowers, thorough exploration of mental health, and ever-present themes of friendship + family! 💡🎙✨

The Infinite Noise by Lauren Shippen is set to be released September 24, 2019!

Empire Of Sand by Tasha Suri Cover Reveal

Empire Of Sand is an upcoming debut fantasy book that I am beyond excited to read!! I originally heard about this book when the author, Tasha Suri, announced her book deal on twitter & immediately put this book on my TBR.

As of April 10, Book Riot revealed the cover & I’d love to share it + talk about why I’m really looking forward to this book!

Here is the summary for Empire Of Sand:

A nobleman’s daughter with magic in her blood. An empire built on the dreams of enslaved gods.

The Amrithi are outcasts; nomads descended of desert spirits, they are coveted and persecuted throughout the Empire for the power in their blood. Mehr is the illegitimate daughter of an imperial governor and an exiled Amrithi mother she can barely remember, but whose face and magic she has inherited. Unbeknownst to her, she can manipulate the dreams of the gods to alter the face of the world.

When Mehr’s power comes to the attention of the Emperor’s most feared mystics, she is coerced into their service, as they are determined to harness her magic for the glory of the Empire. She must use every ounce of will, subtlety, and power she possesses to resist the mystics’ cruel agenda — and should she fail, the gods themselves may awaken seeking vengeance…

I actually have an upcoming SFF TBR list which not only lists this book, but also brings up that I really have been more interested in SFF books within the last year & am really hoping to talk about SFF books more on my blog!

So ever since I read the summary for Empire Of Sand, I knew this would be a highly anticipated book for me!

Not only does the plot sound so unique and just–fantastic, but I’m really intrigued to learn more about the magic system and our main character Mehr’s power/ability to manipulate the dreams of gods.

The magical and fascinating world that Suri has created sounds utterly captivating! It sounds like there’ll be tons of magic, mystery, and adventure with a brave and determined heroine & I am beyond excited to read Mehr’s story!! (´▽`ʃƪ)💕✨
