Waiting On Wednesday │ #11

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly blog feature to showcase & spotlight upcoming book releases!

It was created by Jill over at Breaking The Spines

It’s been a little over a year since I did this feature, but I’m incredibly excited to be sharing today’s book with you! Mainly because its a sequel to one of my favorite Epic Fantasy debuts of last year (and of all-time) 💖💞🎉

This week I’m spotlighting…

Realm Of Ash by Tasha SuriRealm Of Ash by Tasha Suri (The Books Of Ambha #2)

Publisher: Orbit Books

Release Date: November 12, 2019

Pages: 496

Available For Pre-Order Through The Book Depository: Realm Of Ash by Tasha Suri

Summary: The Ambhan Empire is crumbling. A terrible war of succession hovers on the horizon. The only hope for peace lies in the mysterious realm of ash, where mortals can find what they seek in the echoes of their ancestors’ dreams. But to walk there requires a steep price.

Arwa is determined to make the journey. Widowed by a brutal massacre, she’s pledged service to the royal family and will see that pledge through to the end. She never expected to be joined by Zahir, the disgraced, illegitimate prince who has turned to forbidden magic in a desperate bid to save those he loves.

Together, they’ll walk the bloody path of their shared past. And it will call into question everything they’ve ever believed…including whether the Empire is worth saving at all.

To say I’m merely waiting for this book is an understatement…I’m counting down the days, reading any & all quotes/updates/tweets Tasha shares periodically on her twitter, and I’m just filled with an indescribable feeling of anticipation until this book graces me with its presence!

Realm Of Ash is the sequel to easily one of my favorite epic fantasy debuts of 2018, Empire Of Sand!

EOS is set in a world inspired by Mughal India and follows strong-willed, clever, and inspiring protagonist Mehr, who’s the daughter of a governor has magic in her blood due to her mother being Amrithi!

After using her abilities, Mehr and her family are put in danger! But Mehr makes the brave decision to stay behind (meaning her father, stepmother, and little sister Arwa have to leave) and make a deal to ensure their safety by joining the Mystics at their temple.

She’s told to marry Amun, one of the mystics, but its clear that the two are fighting for the same thing, freedom! Over the course of the novel the two forge a powerful bond and remind one another that there is still hope! Empire Of Sand brilliantly weaves in themes of identity, choice, love, family, faith, and much more through Suri’s descriptive and immersive writing!

I think that’s as much as I can say without spoiling too much of EOS, so if you haven’t read this yet, please do and come back so we can discuss (I need more people to talk about this amazing book with!)

So back to Realm Of Ash, this is a sequel set many years after EOS following Arwa, Mehr’s younger sister, her empire is crumbling and the only possible hope for peace is journeying to the realm of ash! Alongside her journey she’ll be joined by an illegitimate prince who uses forbidden magic! But the journey will force them to question things about the empire they’ve grown up in their entire lives…

There are many things I want to discuss, but I really don’t want to spoil EoS, so if your looking forward to Realm Of Ash, keep an eye out for a Bookish Theories post!

I’m so ready to see Arwa go on her own epic adventure and based on Tasha’s tweet it tells me the very important details I need to know about Realm Of Ash, like the “soft Ravenclaw illegitimate prince” 😂💙🎉

I am incredibly excited to see where Tasha takes this series next in one of my most anticipated sequels, Realm Of Ash! 💙💙

Have you read Empire Of Sand? Are your looking forward to this sequel? What’s your Waiting On Wednesday book? 📚

Heartstruck (Flicker #1) by Angeli E. DumatolHeartstruck by Angeli E. Dumatol (Flicker #1)

Publisher: Smashwords

Release Date: September 15, 2018

Pages: 124

Summary: Seventeen-year-old Alexa Zamora looks as if she’s always been the beautiful and graceful center of attention. If you knew her in grade school though, you’d remember a sad little girl, who had lost her parents, and spent most of her time on the martial art arnis—a rough sport, not something girls were supposed to like. If you knew her then, you might have ostracized her for it.

She learned from this mistake, and has done her best to hide all traces of her sport and skill in a new school, and now she’s New Hope Academy’s It Girl. But transfer student Theo Guevarra, who happens to be her old arnis buddy and first love, arrives and makes her question the life she’s been living. How long can she keep up appearances, before it all falls apart?

Heartstruck was a book that was recently added to my TBR!

I originally heard about it through Sil at TheBookVoyagers! (´▽`ʃƪ) ❤

I always go to Sil’s twitter for new & upcoming recommendations for indie & romance authors! She had recently tweeted about this book and the cover/summary immediately caught my attention!

The main character Alexa is the academy It Girl and in her past, spent her time doing martial arts arnis. Now at her new school, she’s left that passion behind her, but when a boy from her past, Theo Guevarra happens to be a new transfer student at her school, things begin to change!

The summary itself sounds so different from any other YA Contemporary I’ve read and I’m really looking forward to reading more about Alexa & Theo!

I also don’t usually read many sports-related contemporary, but this one sounds amazing and I was immediately hooked from the summary !!

Everything about Heartstruck has me really looking forward to reading it! + I’m always looking to support diverse/ #OwnVoices books (& this book has Filipino rep.!)

Can’t wait to read Heartstruck!! It releases Sept. 15, 2018!

when-dimple-met-rishi-cover-revealWhen Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

Publisher: Simon Pulse

Release Date: May 30, 2017

Summary: A laugh-out-loud, heartfelt YA romantic comedy, told in alternating perspectives, about two Indian-American teens whose parents have arranged for them to be married.

Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers…right?

Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program as him—wherein he’ll have to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself.

The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this “suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not?

Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.

One of my top favorite Young Adult genres, besides Fantasy, is Contemporary, so of course When Dimple Met Rishi was an automatic add on my tbr! + I love reading/supporting diverse books!

I’ve heard great things about this novel and I know it won’t disappoint! I cannot wait to read a copy for myself in May!

Are you planning to read When Dimple Met Rishi??

Forest Of A Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. DaoForest Of A Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao (Rise Of The Empress #1)

Publisher: Philomel Books

Release Date: October 10, 2017

Summary: Eighteen-year-old Xifeng is beautiful. The stars say she is destined for greatness, that she is meant to be Empress of Feng Lu. But only if she embraces the darkness within her. Growing up as a peasant in a forgotten village on the edge of the map, Xifeng longs to fulfill the destiny promised to her by her cruel aunt, the witch Guma, who has read the cards and seen glimmers of Xifeng’s majestic future. Because in order to achieve greatness, she must spurn the young man who loves her and exploit the callous magic that runs through her veins–sorcery fueled by eating the hearts of the recently killed. For the god who has sent her on this journey will not be satisfied until his power is absolute.

Set in an East Asian-inspired fantasy world filled with both breathtaking pain and beauty, Forest of a Thousand Lanterns possesses all the hallmarks of masterful fantasy: dazzling magic, heartbreaking romance, and a world that hangs in the balance.

The summary alone had me automatically add this book to my Fall TBR! + The cover is fantastic!!

+ I don’t have a whole lot of knowledge of East-Asian folklore, so through Dao’s novel I’m also beyond excited to read more about it through a fantasy setting! ❤

YA Fantasy is easily one of my new favorite genres and I’m always on the look-out for new and fascinating stories! + I’m always happy to read/support diverse books! ❤ ❤

+ From what I’ve read/heard online this is supposed to also be an Evil Queen retelling, which sounds so cool!

Unscripted Joss Byrd August 23Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly post originally created by the book bloggers over at

This week I will be spotlighting…

Unscripted Joss Byrd by Lygia Day Peñaflor

Publisher: Roaring Brook

Release Date: August 23, 2016

Summary: Hollywood critics agree. Joss Byrd is “fiercely emotional,” a young actress with “complete conviction,” and a “powerhouse.”

Joss Byrd is America’s most celebrated young actress, but on the set of her latest project, a gritty indie film called The Locals, Joss’s life is far from glamorous. While struggling with her mother’s expectations, a crush on her movie brother, and a secret that could end her career, Joss must pull off a performance worthy of a star. When her renowned, charismatic director demands more than she is ready to deliver, Joss must go off-script to stay true to herself.

Ever since I read Everything Leads To You by Nina Lacour & Something Real by Heather Demetrios I’ve loved YA books centering around Hollywood/movies/acting etc.

From the summary alone, this book sounds like its up my alley!

+ this sounds like a great summer contemporary!

I will definitely be reading this when August comes!

Will You Be Reading Unscripted Joss Byrd? 🙂

How It Ends.jpgWaiting On Wednesday is a weekly post originally created by the book bloggers over at

This week I will be spotlighting…

How It Ends by Catherine Lo

Publisher: HMH Books for Young Readers

Release Date: June 7,2016

Summary: There are two sides to every story.

It’s friends-at-first-sight for Jessie and Annie, proving the old adage that opposites attract. Shy, anxious Jessie would give anything to have Annie’s beauty and confidence. And Annie thinks Jessie has the perfect life, with her close-knit family and killer grades. They’re BFFs…until suddenly they’re not.

Told through alternating points of view, How It Ends is a wildly fast but deeply moving read about a friendship in crisis. Set against a tumultuous sophomore year of bullying, boys and backstabbing, the novel shows what can happen when friends choose assumptions and fear over each other.

From reading the summary I really related with Jessie, being shy + anxious!

The summary really hit home for me because, even now I can find it quite challenging to make friends and I completely understand how difficult navigating friendships can be when you are shy/introverted!

This book will definitely be on the top of my June TBR!

Can’t wait to read it!

Rebel of The Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

Publisher: Penguin

Pages: 400

Release Date: March 8, 2016

Rebel of The Sands Alwyn HamiltonSummary: She’s more gunpowder than girl—and the fate of the desert lies in her hands.

Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there’s nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can’t wait to escape from.

Destined to wind up “wed or dead,” Amani’s counting on her sharpshooting skills to get her out of Dustwalk. When she meets Jin, a mysterious and devastatingly handsome foreigner, in a shooting contest, she figures he’s the perfect escape route. But in all her years spent dreaming of leaving home, she never imagined she’d gallop away on a mythical horse, fleeing the murderous Sultan’s army, with a fugitive who’s wanted for treason. And she’d never have predicted she’d fall in love with him…or that he’d help her unlock the powerful truth of who she really is.

To be honest, this book is #1 on my 2016 TBR! This book sounds amazing and I love desert settings! From a short sample I read, I can tell I will really love this book and I have a feeling this book will be pretty big! 😀

And made a bookmark based on the cover ❤
