Sacred Lies Mini-Series Trailer Review

78As of yesterday, July 16, Penguin Teen released the first trailer for Sacred Lies, so today I’ll be sharing with you my thoughts on it!

Sacred Lies is an upcoming mini-series based on Stephanie Oakes 2015 debut novel (from Dial Books), The Sacred Lies Of Minnow Bly!

Summary: The Sacred Lies Of Minnow Bly is a dark, character-driven story that follows 17-year old Minnow Bly who is now juvenile detention. She spent the last 12 years of her life in the Kevinian Cult and as she recounts her story to an FBI officer who can offer her a chance at freedom, she has to face the difficult truths of her past.

Stephanie Oakes’s novel is what got me back into YA Mystery + introduced me to YA Thrillers and is easily one of my favorite YA thriller/mystery standalone books of all time!

The way she crafted mystery, suspense, and her characters always had me picturing The Sacred Lies Of Minnow Bly perfect to adapt as some sort of TV show or mini-series!

I’d seen news about her novel being picked up as a mini series with Facebook Watch & a few cast announcements, but now actually seeing the full trailer release, I am so excited to check out the adaptation & as fan of the book, can’t believe the story is actually coming to life on the small screen!

Sacred Lies will be streamed through Facebook Watch as a 10-episode Mini-Series!

Here’s the trailer for Sacred Lies:

My Thoughts: This is a fantastic trailer! I really loved it!

From the trailer, having read the book, I found it delivered the plot in such a great way! You also get the dark, eerie mystery through the cinematography, which looks incredible!

With the dual sides to Minnow Bly’s story, the trailer delivers a perfect balance of both her life presently and before, while also not giving too much away!

I found the trailer really got the soul of the story through and has me really eager to check out the show!

Sacred Lies will premiere on Facebook Watch July 27!

Are you a fan of Sacred Lies and looking forward to the adaptation??

+ Has the trailer sparked your interest to read the book or watch the show?

*I’m also planning to do some giveaways of the The Sacred Lies Of Minnow Bly (both US & INTL) to celebrate the show’s upcoming release! 😍✨📚

I’ve recently created a Ko-fi to cover shipping for upcoming giveaways & to have even more in the future! If you can, here’s my link if your able to donate 😄:

A Monster Calls Teaser Trailer Review

Yesterday A Monster Calls Teaser Trailer released   🙂

Watch it below!

A-Monster-Calls-CoverA Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, Shioban Dowd, and Jim Kay

Publisher- Walker Books

Released- September 27, 2011

Summary: The monster showed up after midnight. As they do.

But it isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting. He’s been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he’s had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming…

This monster is something different, though. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor.

It wants the truth.

Thoughts: I really love this trailer. Even though its just a teaser, I know the full trailer will be fantastic.

This trailer followed the book very well and really did not give too much away.

I also feel they got the monster quite well. Even though  we only see it for a few seconds, from what I saw the monster looked quite similar to the monster from the illustrations and book in general.

I feel the cinematography and overall feel of the trailer captured the eerie and mysterious tone of the book.

A Monster Calls Releases in theaters October 2016

What are your thoughts on the trailer?

Have you read the book?

Does this trailer make you want to see the movie? 🙂

Famous In Love by Rebecca Serle Review

97Summary: When Paige Townsen gets plucked from high school obscurity to star in the movie adaptation of a blockbuster book series, her life changes practically overnight. Within a month, Paige has traded the quiet streets of her hometown for a bustling film set on the shores of Maui, and she is spending quality time with her costar Rainer Devon, one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive. But when troubled star Jordan Wilder lands the role of the other point in the movie’s famous love triangle, Paige’s crazy new life begins to resemble her character’s.
In this exciting tale of romance and drama, both on-and offscreen, Paige must adjust to a crazy new life without the daily support of her friends and family, while figuring out who she is–and who she wants–as the whole world watches.

My Rating:Full StarFull StarFull StarFull Starhalf star--Book Blog

***SPOILERS AHEAD***

My Thoughts: Not only is the cover beautiful, but the summary itself sounded interesting to me and seemed like something I would really enjoy reading and I was right! This book transports you to the complex world of Hollywood and the life for young actors/actresses trying to make it big! Paige Townsen dreams of becoming an actress and is convinced by her best friend Cassandra, to audition for a Book-To-Film adaptation of Locked, this world’s bestselling YA novel. I was happy when Paige took the chance to audition and got the role. After a few months she is adjusting to Hollywood life and becomes friends with her costar Rainer Devon. And a romance develops between the two! I really enjoyed their dynamic and how their relationship develops. Then Jordan Wilder joins the cast and that’s where the plot starts to get even more interesting.

In the beginning we are led to believe Jordan is a bad guy, but as the plot continues we come to learn Jordan and Rainer’s animosity has just become a big misunderstanding! It was great that the two were able to settle their differences. I was happy that Cassandra and Paige were able to forgive each other by the end and settle their issues as well.

The only reason I took away 1/2 a star was at times the plot felt a little slow and I wish I got a little more of Rainer and Jordan’s characters away from all the Hollywood drama. But other than that, I really loved this book!

The ending has me excited for the sequel and how Paige will adjust to life in Hollywood!

*I am also excited to watch the ABC Family adaptation of this book starring Bella Thorne as Paige 🙂 **

Read the full article discussing the adaptation here.

From what I read online, I’m pretty sure it is still in development! But when more info is released I will definitely make a blog post about it 🙂
